This Just In...

Keith Rupert Murdoch. Fox News. New York Post. Col Allan. Sean Delonas.

Murdoch, the chairman and CEO of News Corp, is considered to be a global media mogul whose acquisitions have landed him at the 109th spot on the Forbes 400 list with a net worth of $8.3 billion. News Corp is one of the world's largest media conglomerates in the world that operates off of a $5.381 billion budget while ending the year with a total revenue of $32.996 billion which results in a $27.614 billion profit. Some of News Corps holdings in the United States include the following:
The rule of thumb is that if "Fox" is in the title then News Corp owns it. During the 2008 Presidential Campaign Fox News earned the nicknames "Faux News", "Fox Noise Channel", and "Fixed News" due to its biased reporting. Fox News has been known to favor the Republican party and in turn tried several times to distort facts and launch smear campaigns against Barack Obama in order to harm his chances at being victorious. The most notable attack that launched from Fox News is when they reported that the Obama's fist bump gesture was a "terrorist fist jab":

News Corps. also has a 40% option in the Los Angeles Kings (NHL) and a 9.8% option in the Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) while owning 40% of the Staples Center. Last, but certainly not least, News Corp. owns the New York Post.

Yesterday, there was an uproar in regard to a cartoon published by the New York Post whose Editor-in-Chief is Col Allan. On staff at the Post is famed cartoonist Sean Delonas who sketched a piece that EIC Allan defended as being "...a clear parody of a current news event, to wit the shooting of a violent chimpanzee in Connecticut. It broadly mocks Washington's efforts to revive the economy."
However, the image proved to be the shot heard round the world in its portrayal of what most believe to be the portrayal of the President of the United States, Barack Obama, as a primate. Civil rights activist, Rev. Al Sharpton, responded to the image by saying,

"The cartoon is troubling at best given the historic racist attacks of African-Americans as being synonymous with monkeys. One has to question whether the cartoonist is making a less than casual reference to this when in the cartoon they have police saying after shooting a chimpanzee that "Now they will have to find someone else to write the stimulus bill."

"Being that the stimulus bill has been the first legislative victory of President Barack Obama (the first African American president) and has become synonymous with him it is not a reach to wonder are they inferring that a monkey wrote the last bill?"

As a result of Sharpton becoming the public spokesperson on the issue, Allan went on to say that "...Sharpton reveals himself as nothing more than a publicity opportunist."

Delonas has a lengthy history of sketching images that prove to be offensive to African-Americans and homosexuals so his latest piece comes as no surprise. Some, who like to believe that racism is abolished on the sole premise that we have a black President, say that the cartoon is innocent and harmless. The majority believe that this was an intentional ploy to subconsciously represent both the representation of African-Americans as less than human and the killing of Barack Obama.

Two things need to be done, one of which is already in progress. Everyone needs to ban together and refuse to buy the Post, if you must see the pretty pictures just go to their website, but do not support the print publication. With a loss of monetary funds the Post will get the message loud and clear. Secondly, an investigation needs to be launched in order to send a clear message that Barack Obama is no longer simply a citizen, but he is the President and should be respected and acknowledged as such; therefore, not even a loose interpretation referencing bodily harm towards him will be tolerated. Also, NYC Councilman Charles Barron has called for A City Wide Emergency Protest Demonstration that will be held today at noon in front of the New York Post main offices at 1211 Avenue of the the Americas (between 47th and 48th Streets) New York, NY.

If you are as outraged as I am by the New York Post's blatant disregard for the African-American race and utmost disrespect for the President of the United States here is a litny of contact information. Remember, it's not enough to simply talk about issues, we must attach action to our words and beliefs in order to be heard.
